Adding unit prices for offered items

In this post, we will briefly explain how you can enter unit prices for your products when using Eselt eBay lister. If an item is listed directly on eBay, the unit price must be set there.

Explanation of Base Price Declaration

If you sell products to end customers in a commercial capacity, which are offered with volume, weight, length, or area specifications, then the unit price must be stated in close proximity to the total price.

The declaration of the base price is regulated by the Price Indication Directive of the European Parliament.

According to eBay “An EU Directive on consumer protection requires business sellers to indicate the price per unit of measurement (unit price) when selling certain goods to consumers. This means displaying the price of an item per kilogramme, litre, metre or other unit of measurement to make it easier for buyers to compare the prices of similar products.”

For which products must the base price be indicated?

  • Goods in pre-packaged quantities with a nominal fill quantity by weight or volume (e.g., 2-liter glass of coconut oil).
  • Goods in open packages (filled in the presence of the buyer, including unpackaged baked goods).
  • Sales units without packaging (including cables, wallpapers, wire).

It is not necessary to indicate the base price when you offer items with a nominal weight or volume of less than 10 grams or milliliters, or when the final price and the base price are identical.

Note

For products with a fill quantity from 11 grams or milliliters to 250 grams or milliliters, the base price must be indicated per 100 grams or milliliters. For products over 250 grams or milliliters, it is stated as 1 kilogram or 1 liter.

How do I enter the base price for eBay?

To display the base price on eBay, please follow these steps:

Go to “Show Optional Item Features” and scroll down a bit to the sections “Number of Units” and “Unit of Measurement.”

Enter the unit of measurement and the number of units accordingly. In the screenshot, there is an example of an item with a volume of 500 ml.

The setting will be saved automatically. Now click on “Send to eBay.” The listing will be updated, and the base price will be visible on eBay, as shown in the next screenshot.

Check that the unit price is visible on your offers that are subject to a unit price. Be sure to try our app to update your offers.
