New in Eselt: Automatically fill in EAN codes for product variants

If you sell products under your own brand and have your own EAN codes, Eselt can now help you fill EANs for product variants much faster.

Instead of copying every EAN manually into each variant, you can add your own EAN code pool once. Eselt will then take the codes from this pool and assign them to selected variants automatically.

Who is this feature for?

This feature is useful for sellers who have their own EAN range. For example, it can help private-label sellers, brand owners, manufacturers or sellers working with white-label products.

If you resell products from another brand, you should normally use the original EANs provided by the manufacturer. This feature is not meant to create new EANs or replace official product codes.

Step 1: Add your EAN code pool

First, add your own EAN range in Eselt. You do this by entering the first and the last EAN from your available pool.

Step 2: Fill EANs while preparing products for listing

Once your EAN pool is saved, you can use it when preparing products for listing on your sales channels.

Go to the product variants, select the variants that should receive an EAN and click the button to fill the EAN codes. Eselt will take the next available codes from your saved pool and add them to the selected variants.

This is done only once while preparing the product data. After the EANs are filled and saved in Eselt, they stay assigned to the variants and cannot be removed.

How Eselt uses the EAN pool

Eselt starts with the first EAN from your pool and continues step by step.

The system remembers which EAN was used last. So the next time you fill EANs for another product or another group of variants, Eselt continues from the next available code.

This means you do not need to check manually where you stopped. It also helps make sure that no EAN from your pool is skipped or wasted.

For example, if Eselt used EANs 001 to 010 for your first product, the next automatic assignment will start with EAN 011.

Why it helps

The main benefit is simple: less manual work and fewer mistakes.

If you have only two variants, adding EANs manually is not a big issue. But with many sizes, colors or versions, it quickly becomes slow and easy to get wrong.

One wrong digit, one copied code in the wrong row or one duplicated EAN can cause problems when sending products to a marketplace.

With the EAN pool, you prepare the range once and let Eselt fill the codes in the correct order.

Important note

Eselt does not generate new EANs. The system only uses the EANs you enter yourself.

Only add EANs that belong to your company or brand and that you are allowed to use for your products.

Conclusion

The EAN pool feature is a small but useful improvement for sellers with their own branded products and many variants.

You add your EAN range once, and when preparing products for your sales channels, Eselt can fill the EAN fields for selected variants automatically.

The system remembers where it stopped and continues with the next available EAN the next time you use it. This saves time, reduces manual work, and helps keep your product data cleaner.
